A visa refusal is the rejection of the application for a non-immigrant visa by the immigration authorities. The immigration authorities fall under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and they are responsible to handle the applications related to the immigration and citizenship of the migrants wishing to travel, stay or become a citizen of the country.

The visa would cost you around 60 euros and you are advised to apply three weeks in advance to avoid delays. Poland is also a signatory to the Schengen Agreement and has a common visa policy. The visa refusal rate of the country for the New Delhi Consulate was 23.80% for a total of 4,838 visa applications received in 2017 which is undoubtedly high.

The reasons for visa refusal are more or less the same as that for a Schengen visa and the Embassy would outline the same in the official refusal letter.

The most common factors are that the purpose of visit and the intention to return to the home country are not clear, the correct documents are not presented or they have been forged, the funds to cover the expenses of the stay are insufficient, the applicant has a criminal record on his/her name, the applicant has previous issues with the Schengen visa, the applicant has been registered under the Schengen Information System (SIS) whose visit to Poland is considered undesirable.

The solutions to visa refusal are that the applicant can either appeal against the decision or re-apply. The fee paid for the visa application is non-refundable.

The appeal needs to be made within 7 days of the receipt of the refusal letter in the format described by the Embassy. The appeal should be made if the grounds for refusing the decision of the authorities are justified.

If the applicant has no grounds for appealing the decision, then he/she can file for a fresh application after meeting the reasons for refusal.

The rate of visa refusal for Poland is quite high and so the applicant must ensure that the application is filled after making due diligence and taking the guidance of qualified visa advisors. In case the application is refused the applicant need not worry as the battle is not lost yet and there is still hope. All the applicant has to do is to either appeal or re-apply and again taking the advice of the visa agents can increase the chances of solving the issue faster and effectively.
