The UK is one of the finest countries to relocate to. Many Indians have been living a life of their […]

The UK is one of the finest countries to relocate to. Many Indians have been living a life of their dreams in the British empire of the United Kingdom. Yet, in the past few years, there has been a ‘shift of preference’ in the minds of people. Many immigrants in the UK are now opting to relocate to Canada. There are a few prominent reasons for this:

1. Negligible unemployment in Canada

The Canadian economy has been growing by leaps and bound. The country is full of opportunities, especially for ITs, teachers, nurses and accountants. The grade & pay system in Canadian firms is great! The unemployment rate is negative in the country and even by any chance, if you are not employed, the Canadian government will provide you with the unemployed allowance. These facilities are lacking in the UK, as it is an established economy. In the world of economics, the developing economy is more capable of employment generation than the established economy.

2. Brexit deal

The on-going Brexit deal in Britain may lead to many economic changes in the county. There may be a direct impact on the people of the economy. Brexit is a deal that has been initiated by Great Britain, seeking to divide its territory from the European Union. Since Britain is now on the closing stage of the deal, the country will now become an independent entity. While a majority of people of Britain had voted for the separation, Indians may find it uncomfortable to immigrate to the UK at this point in time.

3. Social Security Benefits in Canada

One of the most popular attraction points in Canada is not the Nigeria fall but the social security benefits that the county provides to its Permanent Residents. Some of the popular social schemes by the country are:

Free healthcare services

Free education up to 12th standard

Unemployment allowances

Retirement benefits

Child allowances up to CAD 800 if your child is born in Canada

4. Zero discrimination policy in Canada

Canada is a known multi-cultured nation. People from all over the world- China, South Africa, Dubai, India, Russia, and the Americas, immigrate and settle in Canada. There is zero discrimination on the basis of color, creed, religion and cultural practices. In fact, a huge Indian community is living in the heart of Canada i.e., Manitoba province, where 3rd official language is Punjabi! What’s more, is that the Mayor of the Winnipeg city of Canada is always an elected North Indian for a decade now!

While in the UK, there still exists discrimination for Indians; Canada is a ‘home away from home’ that caters to the Indian community, their festival celebrations, religion establishments as well as community centers within.

Canada’s 2019 election is going to be the most competitive one. The progressive candidates will be challenging the current Prime […]

Canada’s 2019 election is going to be the most competitive one. The progressive candidates will be challenging the current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s reelection bid. The polls show that the Liberal and Conservative parties are in close competition. Jagmeet Singh has risen as a strong contender in the race.

As an immigrant, you may be concerned about how this election will affect you. It is important to know whether you will have a place in Canada or not after the federal elections. Let us take a look at the stance of the four main political parties. Let us also see how this will affect your chances to immigrate to Canada.

The Conservative Party

The Conservative party in this federal election has taken many liberal steps. It has tried to assure the voters that once it comes to power it won’t take any conservative stance. These are, regulating abortion, challenging climate change, reducing immigration or funding of such programs.

Andrew Scheer who is the leader of the Conservative party has committed to addressing issues. These are moderate tax cuts, improving the image of the party, solving any resentment previously held.

He wants to balance the radicalized views of the Liberals with the fiscal damages done by the current Prime Minister.

The Liberal Party

The Liberals have done a lot of work over the past four years. It has shown Canada to be a progressive contender in global politics. Justin Trudeau has put in place the first gender-based cabinet in Canadian history.

It implemented a $70 billion dollar plan to introduce a carbon tax. The 25,000 refugees of Syria were welcomed and resettled. The current government also claims to have uplifted 90,000 Canadians from poverty.

The prime minister also put in place policies that helped to create 1 million new jobs which reduced the unemployment rate.

The qualified immigrants were welcomed with open arms to take part in boosting the economy and included in the Canadian workforce. The Liberal party, however, faces many scandals and unfulfilled promises in its current tenure.

The Democratic Party

All the citizens of Canada are not entirely satisfied with the current Liberal party. They feel that many promises have not been fulfilled.

These issues are reconciliation with the indigenous people, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, providing federal subsidies to oil and gas companies.

Jagmeet Singh who is the head of the National Democratic Party has brought up these issues. He has a strong record of fulfilling his promises. He has taken a strong stance on the government-funded drug programs for Canadian citizens.

Canada is a country with 22% of foreign-born citizens. Thus Singh represents these nationals who are looking for stability. He is a strong candidate for the Canadian youth as well as the minority who have felt ignored by the current government’s policies.

The Green Party

The leader of the Green Party, Elizabeth May has been successful in gaining increasing support for the party. She has assured the voters that her party will work for much more than just environmental issues.

The party claims to reconcile with the indigenous people, fight for climate change, address issues of international relations and defense, democratic reform, and gender equality.

It wants to support gender-affirming health care and gender-neutral facilities in federal buildings.

May is also in support of a minority government which is a coalition of parties rather than one party taking up all the control in a government.

What will be the effect on immigration?

There are two consequences for the immigrants from this federal election.

If Liberals come to power with a majority of seats, Trudeau’s multi-year immigration program will help the immigrants. It will continue to invite over 1 million immigrants to support the labor shortage.

Many immigration programs have already been successfully implemented. Atlantic Immigration Program, Rural Immigration Pilot Program are some of them.

The Conservative Party has stated that it will “stabilize economic immigration”. This means that it will not increase or decrease immigration. But it will maintain the current levels. They are also more likely to invite only those candidates who have job offers. Thus they want to focus on the immediate labor shortages.

The main takeaway is that whichever way the election results go; the leading political parties have immigrant’s best interests at heart.

Choose the appropriate work permit

You need to select the appropriate work permit. There are two options for this- Employer specific work permit and Openwork permit. The selection will depend on whether you have a job offer or not and which immigration program you chose for immigration.

Meet the Eligibility Requirements

You need to prove that you will leave once your work permit expires

You should have enough funds to support you and your family members

You need a police clearance certificate for security reasons

You need a medical exam certificate to show that you are in good health.

Meet the Additional Requirements

You need an IELTS certificate for English language skills.

You need to have a work experience certificate

You need assessed credentials by the Medical Council Of Canada

If you do not have the credentials, then you need to complete a one-year post-graduate program in a Canadian province.

Which are the immigration programs that medical professionals should apply through?

Express Entry System

This program was launched in 2015 to simplify and speed up the immigration process. It caters to the highly skilled foreign applicants who wish to live and work in Canada. The applicants applying for a work visa through this program can apply for an open work permit. This system does not need candidates to have a Canadian job offer beforehand.

Please note that having a job offer can increase your Comprehensive Ranking (CRS) Score. This further increases your chances to get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for a Permanent Residency (PR) in Canada.

Provincial Nominee Program

This is a program of the specific provinces which target certain professionals according to their market needs.

The candidates who do not qualify for the Express Entry System can apply for this program. But you need a job offer and relevant work experience.

You should check whether your job title is listed in a particular province’s in-demand occupation list. This will increase your chances of a provincial nomination.

A provincial nomination awards you with 600 extra points in your CRS score. This further guarantees you to get an ITA for a permanent residency in Canada.

Conclusion

If you are a medical professional, then immigrating to Canada is a simple and easy process for you. Do follow the procedure that has been mentioned in detail above. You should know beforehand about which province you wish to live and work in. This will increase your chances of getting an ITA for permanent residency in Canada.

Every year many Indians travel to Canada with the aim of settling there. Canadian Immigration System is a point-based immigration system and so your immigration scores impact your chances of permanent residency in Canada.
Which are the Best Canadian Immigration Programs?

If you see the figures of native Indians gaining permanent residency in Canada, you will notice that most of the applicants were successful when they applied through the Federal Express Entry System of Canada.

In 2018, more than 39,600 Indians got permanent residency through the express entry system which is an increase of about 50 percent from the 26,300 Indians who gained residency in 2017. (https://blog.visasavenue.com/which-is-best-visa-program-for-indians-to-get-permanent-residency-in-canada/)

Basic Eligibility for the Canadian Express Entry Program:

Graduation in any stream

2-3 years of work experience

Good English Language Skills

Financial Stability

What is the Federal Express Entry System of Canada?

The express entry system is a point-based system for immigration in Canada. It is the fastest way through which skilled workers can gain permanent residency in Canada.

The candidates need to register their profile and are then awarded points based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) after which the profiles move into the express entry pool.

The express entry draw is carried out every 15 days whereby the Canadian government or IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada) invites the top-ranked candidates to apply for permanent residency in Canada.

Apply in Provincial Nominee Programs

Express Entry System is a federal program run by the Canadian government whereas PNP is operated by provinces of Canada in coordination with the federal government.

The PNPs are awarded with annual nomination quotas according to which they invite, select, and nominated the selected pool of talented candidates for permanent residency.

The benefit here is that a candidate can be selected even if he/she has a low immigration score with relaxed process requirements.

It is best to apply in the Express Entry aligned stream of the respective PNPs.

How to Increase Your CRS Score?

Apply in a PNP to get provincial nomination

If you apply and are selected through the express entry aligned stream of a PNP, you get 600 extra points in the express entry system which improves your CRS score.

Be proficient in languages

You can enhance your chances of getting a permanent residency visa by working on IELTS score. You can also provide the IELTS score of your spouse to get extra points. Being proficient in the French languages also helps you to earn bonus points in express entry.

Get an Employment Offer

If you are able to get an employment offer from a Canadian province, you get 200 extra CRS points which are a huge plus to your immigration score.

Quebec Skilled Worker Visa Program

Under the Quebec Immigration 2019 rules, Quebec aims to invite thousands of skilled workers into the province to immigrate at a faster pace. The minimum requirements for this program are:

Education- Diploma or Bachelors

Work Experience- Minimum 6 months

Age- Up to 42 years

Language Ability- French and English

Conclusion

Thus for any candidate aspiring for a permanent residency visa to Canada, it is a must that he/she meets the least requirements and is able to score well in the CRS point-based system. And if they score less the programs mentioned above can help them to improve their chances of success.

Immigration to Canada is a clear cut procedure. The government has added further simplifications to attract migrants. The two most important immigration programs of Canada are – Express Entry System and the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). The Express Entry System is a government-operated system for immigrants. The PNP is a province-specific program tailored to the needs of provinces. PNPs are usually for skilled workers. Saskatchewan is a popular province of Canada with a booming economy. It has plenty of natural resources like minerals, oil, natural gas, and potash. The province provides a reasonable cost of living and plenty of jobs.

What is the Work Structure of a PNP?

If you are nominated through a PNP, you get 600 extra points under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). This increases your chances of getting an ITA (Initiation to Apply).

This program is for those who:

Have the skills and education required to contribute to the economy

Want to live in a particular province

Want to become permanent residents of Canada and can adapt to the lifestyle

Each province has its own streams whereby they target certain groups like

Students

Business people

Skilled workers

Semi-skilled workers

The categories under the SINP are as follows:

International Skilled Worker Category

Entrepreneur Category

Farm Worker Category

We will be looking into the category that invites application for the skilled workers through its PNP known as the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP).

What is the Procedure for the Application?

You must meet the edibility criteria of the province to which you wish to apply

Submit an Express Entry Profile

Meet the minimum criteria of Express Entry

If you are invited to apply, submit an electronic application to Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)

There will be a SINP Expression of Interest (EOI) draw

If selected, you will receive SINP nomination and get 600 extra points under Express Entry CRS.

You will then get an ITA for permanent residency (PR) to Canada.

What are the Eligibility Criteria to Immigrate to Saskatchewan?

There is a general eligibility criterion common to all the PNPs which are as follows:

Age- 12 points

Level of Education- 23 points

Work Experience- 15 points

Language Proficiency(English and French)- 20 points

Connection to Saskatchewan and Adaptability- 30 points

There are marks awarded on the basis of these general criteria. Total marks are 100 and a minimum of 60 marks is needed to proceed further.

The criteria for Saskatchewan, in particular, are as follows:

Get a minimum language score of 4 on the Canadian Language benchmark

One year of work experience for skilled professionals

Two years of work experience for skilled trade workers

You should have completed post-secondary education, training, or apprenticeship which is equal to at least one year of the Canadian education system

You should have proof of your professional status

You should have a settlement fund and a settlement plan

You need to submit an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) from a designated organization.

Why Canada? Canada is a country that owing to its low population is unable to meet the labor gap of its growing industry. This, but, is great news for the foreign skilled workers as Canada plans to welcome a million workers by 2021.

The best part is that the country is awarding permanent residency to foreign workers who can apply through various programs. When you apply for immigration to Canada as a skilled worker, you get a National Occupational Classification (NOC) code, which indicates the category of skilled workers that you fall under.

The NOC code should be verifiable by your supporting documents.

What are the different categories of workers?

High Skilled Workers

The first category is high skilled workers. The eligibility for this is that you should have a university education, college education, or apprenticeship training. The jobs in this category are in the field of education, law, social services, and management positions.

Semi/Low Skilled Workers

This category requires that you should have a secondary school education, or an occupation-specific training, or occupations that provide on-the-job training. The jobs in this category cover fields like sales, services, transport, and trade sectors.

Unskilled Workers

There are no minimum education requirements in this category. The jobs include fields like natural resources, agriculture, production sectors, manufacturing and utility sectors.

What are the semi/low skilled job opportunities in Canada?

Below is a list of the semi/low skilled job opportunities available in Canada along with the National Occupational Classification (NOC) code of each job occupation. The average annual salary of these in-demand job occupations in Canadian dollars has also been mentioned.

How to immigrate to Canada as a semi-skilled worker?

Although there is the Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program under which you can apply for immigration, the best way to immigrate to Canada as a semi-skilled worker is through the Provincial Nomination Programs (PNP).

11 out of the 13 provinces run a relaxed PNP and have their own set of demands from the labor market, welcoming the skilled workers.

If your job falls under a particular province’s in-demand occupations, then you will have better chances to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for a permanent residency in Canada.

Receiving a provincial nominee award will add 600 extra points to your Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS), increasing the chances of you getting an ITA.

Which are the 11 provinces providing a PNP?

Each province has a subset of programs under the PNP through which they offer provincial nomination to foreign nationals who meet the program-specific criteria and prove their intention to live in that particular province.

The PNPs of the 11 provinces are as follows:

Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP)

British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP)

Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)

New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP)

Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP)

Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP)

Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)

Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)

Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)

Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP)

Yukon Nominee Program (YNP)

The three provinces which specifically help the semi-skilled workers to immigrate to Canada are—Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan.

Canada with its free healthcare, free primary and secondary education, freedom of religion, high standards of living, and high paying […]

Canada with its free healthcare, free primary and secondary education, freedom of religion, high standards of living, and high paying jobs is a favorite among immigrants. The number of applicants applying for a Canadian visa is on the rise.

However, one needs to be aware that the immigration industry is full of fraudulent scams and illegal consultants who promise acceptance of visa in return of huge amounts of money. It is humiliating to be turned away by the immigration officer at the airport after spending so much time and money on your application.

Read below to watch out for the Canadian Visa Scam.

Not an Authorized Representative

An authorized representative is the official who has been granted the authority from the Canadian government to assist with visas and immigration through paid services. This list includes RCICs, lawyers, notaries, and paralegals (only for Ontario).

The representatives can easily trick you about their authenticity and so to check their authorization you can simply search their RCIC number on the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council’s Registry. (https://iccrc-crcic.ca/)

For lawyers and notaries, you need to check if they are members of the Canadian provincial and territory law society. For paralegals, the agent needs to be registered with the Law Society of Upper Canada. (https://lso.ca/public-resources/finding-a-lawyer-or-paralegal)

Scam Websites

The agents will always have an online presence for the convenience of their clients. But even if their websites seem genuine you need to make sure whether they are authorized or not.

Avoid websites that make fraudulent claims like guarantying you a visa, a faster proceeding of application, or a high paying job. The agents can only make the process easier for you and the Canadian Government alone holds the authority to decide who gets a visa.

Locate the company’s authorized representative’s credentials on the website so that you can check their registration.

Read the company’s privacy policy, terms and conditions, and refund policy to know exactly what you are getting into.

Avoid websites that do not provide you with contact information.

Fake Government Officials

Some people pose as government officials and call the applicant saying that certain aspects of the application are incomplete and that he/she owes the fees. They may threaten the refusal of visa or deportation.

You should know that immigration officers will never contact you over the telephone to collect fees or fines, they will never be aggressive and they will never ask you for personal or financial information over the phone. Be wary of such people and report them to the authorities.

Fake Emails

You may get emails asking you to invest money or they may even direct you to certain websites where you will have to reveal your personal or financial information. Make sure to check the identity of the sender if you find anything suspicious about them.

Relationship Scams

Here the victim will be lured into an online relationship with promises to take the partner to Canada but first he/she has to help them by giving cash. The amounts asked may be small at first and will gradually increase making the victim broke.

Educational Scams

These are the most common and widespread visa scams. Here the victim is tricked into the Canadian Educational Scam where someone approaches you with promises to study, live and work in Canada. They will ask you for your tuition and other fees in advance and lure you into their schemes.

When traveling abroad you are bound to come across various types of backpackers with whom every trip becomes memorable. Backpackers […]

When traveling abroad you are bound to come across various types of backpackers with whom every trip becomes memorable. Backpackers are different from tourists in the sense that they usually travel in big groups to maximize their budget, try and experience the not so popular destinations as well, and live in tacky hostels socializing all the time.

Even among backpackers, there is a variety of personalities that you can come across. Below are the 10 types of backpackers that can amaze you.

The Gilbert Species

Anybody who has read the book- Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert can identify with this kind of species. These travelers are usually in the 18-25 age groups who take a gap year just after or before college to explore the world.

Though this spontaneous plan to take a sabbatical can happen at an older age too. Nervous break-downs or reunions being the common reasons. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara comes to mind.

These over-enthusiastic backpackers and explorers are usually from Europe, New Zealand, Australia, and America, following round-the-world ticket route, spending most of their time in Southeast Asia, New Zealand, and Australia.

These species tend to party a lot, sleep in dorms, see the main attractions, meet other travelers, and come home with a few good stories to share before they begin their college or career.

The Volunteers

This kind of backpackers travels with a higher purpose which is usually saving mankind, animals, or the environment. They travel with the aim of volunteering in disaster relief efforts, wildlife conservation, community development projects, humanitarian causes, etc.

They never run out of stories and experiences to share. A common belief among them is that the tacky dorms and hostels are a big luxury from the broken huts they had to stay in without running water or electricity.

The Partyholics

These nocturnal creatures are the party animals shouting the loudest in the bar. They will be the first to arrive and the last to leave a pub. In the mornings you can find them in their bedrooms sleeping or recovering from a hangover.

They spend most of their time getting drunk in each new destination prioritizing their late-night drinking and socializing above all else. They are sure to know the best clubs, bars, happy hours in a country and are usually found in party destinations like Amsterdam, Thailand, Barcelona, and Prague.

The Penny-Pinchers

They are those backpackers who are always envied in hostels. They prefer to stay in cheap hostels not because they can’t afford luxury but due to their interest in exploring and experiencing everything.

Their treasure includes high-end clothing, accessories, and gadgets. Their nights are reserved for fancy dinners and extravagant excursions which do not match their stay in $10 per-night tacky hostels.

These are the luxurious backpackers oozing out wealth and richness along every step of the way.

The Grannies

Most of the backpackers you are bound to find will be in their 20s or 30s. But among them, you are sure to come across the grannies or the oldies too. These travelers can afford to stay in high-end hotels but prefer cheap hostels due to their youthful energy, and communal spaces.

These oldies and midlifers are back on the road to once again experience their lost youth or take a leave from their fast-paced corporate lives. Lucky for you as they have some amazing stories to share.

The Happy Couples

These backpackers are the traveling couples out for a good time together. They can either be socializing with other couples or the oldies, partying with the group, meeting other travelers and not mind being chatty. They tend to gravitate towards romantic destinations.

Or they can be the reserved kind of couples who only want each other’s company and do not like being involved in the hostel parties. They usually book the deluxe private hostel rooms and want their privacy to be respected at all times.

The Hermione Species

These kinds of travelers are the know-it-all backpackers who always travel in similar ways and stay in hostels. They cannot be challenged in their history of travel and are thus unbeatable. They can tell you about the times when they went swimming with sharks when you have just been to scuba diving.

Even though they might appear to be haughty, they have a reservoir of useful information and can give you the best recommendations. Being on their good side won’t hurt you.

The Spiritualist

These backpackers are usually western, white, and young. Exhausted by the materialism in their world they travel to find inner peace and live a life of stoicism. They explore the local customs and cultures, read books on Buddhism and spiritualism.

Their usual destinations are temples and ashrams where you can find them doing yoga or chanting mantras. These travelers are known to have done ayahuasca in South America and yoga in Bali.

Travelers Spiritus forgo their material possessions to find themselves and blog about their new and healthy lifestyle. They boast as to how freer they feel and are usually found in South America, India, and Southeast Asia.

The Hippies

This species of travelers avoid tourist destinations as they are too commercial for them and are mostly found in India or some other developing country as they can’t afford anywhere else.

Their attire is their trademark as they are clothed with dreadlock and necklaces. They give out a rare appearance and seem weeks-overdue for a shower.

The Digital Nomad

This species is the rebellious kind who has broken free from the 9 to 5 job and have taken up location-independent, technology-enabled jobs. They work online to afford their travels and can be found on social media boasting their free lifestyle, posting beach photos on Instagram with captions like “Just another day at the office”.

They spend much of their time behind laptops and never experience the destination they are at. They live wherever there is good internet access and cheap hostels.
