The government of Denmark has taken certain decisions to strengthen its police efforts on its borders. It wants to control […]

The government of Denmark has taken certain decisions to strengthen its police efforts on its borders. It wants to control the flow of immigrants and refugees. Denmark has decided to introduce internal border checks with Sweden. It also wants to extend its border controls with Germany for another six months.

Why has Denmark increased border controls?

Denmark has increased border controls because of security reasons. According to the Denmark Ministry of Justice, there have been 13 blasts in the country since February of this year. Two of them have been towards police buildings. This is a serious blot on the security of the country. These are valid reasons to increase border controls.

What do the police have to say?

The police are of the opinion that the explosion carried out on the Tax Agency on August 6, 2019, was by criminals who had traveled across the border from Sweden to Denmark. The police believe that the violent murder witnessed at the end of June this year on the open street in Herlev was a showdown between rival gangs from Sweden.

The terror threat to Denmark remains serious. The police are taking all the necessary precautions.

What does the Ministry of Justice say?

The Minister of Justice, Nick Hekkerup is of the opinion that the explosion at the Tax Agency and the double killing in Herlev are due to the crime coming from the border with Sweden. He has said that we will not accept crime coming to threaten Denmark. To counter-attack, the serious border crime, the internal border controls with Sweden are now put in place (temporarily). The police efforts in border areas against Sweden are being strengthened. He has mentioned that the focus is on organized criminals. The ordinary citizens crossing the border every day are not the target.

The government wants to work in a smart and effective way.

When will the border controls be launched?

The temporary border controls with Sweden will take effect from 12 November 2019. At the same time, the border controls with Germany will extend for another six months.

What does the Prime Minister say?

The Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, has pledged to tighten border controls since August. The two bomb blasts that took place in Copenhagen were the deciding factor. The former PM of Denmark, Lars Lokke Rasmussen, is of the opinion that the border controls should be permanent. It is a must to deal with illegal migration and terrorism.

What are the other countries doing?

Other countries like Austria and Germany have also extended their internal borders. Austria has done so with Hungary and Slovenia for another six months. Germany has extended its internal border controls with Austria for another six months.

We all know what a visa is. But, just for a record, a visa is a document granted by the […]

We all know what a visa is. But, just for a record, a visa is a document granted by the immigration authorities allowing a foreign traveler to enter, remain, or leave a particular country for a specified period of time. There are two main kinds of visas- a business visa and a tourist visa.

What is the Difference Between a Passport and a Visa?

The main difference between a passport and a visa is that a passport is issued to a citizen of a country for international travel and identification. This document is used to verify one’s country of citizenship and is needed to regain entry into your own country. A visa is issued to allow the traveler to enter a foreign country and is different for each country.

What is the Difference Between a Tourist Visa and a Business Visa?

The visas issued are mostly divided into nonimmigrant and immigrant categories. The nonimmigrant visa allows a foreigner to stay temporarily in a foreign country. An immigrant visa is issued for permanent residence.

A tourist visa allows a traveler to visit a foreign country temporarily only for tourism and sight-seeing.

A business visa allows the applicant to set up business in a foreign country.

How Obtaining a Visa Become a Hassle?

Obtaining a visa is not an easy task. There are many documents that are needed and even a minor mistake can increase the chances of rejection.

The authorities need to be satisfied that the traveler has an intention to return to his or her home country and will not gain permanent access to the foreign country through a “back door”. The health and criminal records of the applicant are thoroughly checked for security purposes. The applicant also needs to have sufficient funds to support his or her travel.

Why Some Countries have Stringent Visa Requirements?

Certain countries like the USA and France have very strict visa requirements. According to the UN WTO, these countries have developed economies and visas are a way to help improve the security and control immigration to these countries.

Why Do Other Countries Welcome Tourists with Open Arms?

The countries which depend heavily on tourism try and develop a more open world for the tourists. They do so by encouraging diversity and equality in their country and by reducing the visa requirements which is the easiest way to attract tourism.

They are usually the idyllic island nations that depend heavily on tourism to generate revenue.

The global tourism is expected to reach 1.8 billion by the year 2030. In order to gain revenue through tourism, these countries try and develop a less expensive, less time-consuming, and hassle-free visa application process for prospective travelers.

What do the Facts Signify?

As of 2015, a massive 61% of the foreign travelers were required to gain a visa prior to travel and the refusal rate for the US Business Travel Visa was a staggering 32.4%.

However, since then, many countries have removed the requirement of a prior visa and have initiated a visa on arrival for a specified period of time for the Indian citizens.

In some countries, there is no need for a traveler to obtain a visa. A passport suffices, like our neighboring country Nepal, where visa is not required and there is no maximum duration either. Seychelles also does not ask for a visa for a period of 30 days after which you can get a visa on arrival.

What Are the Rankings of the Countries?

The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN WTO) released a Visa Openness report in 2018 ranking the countries according to the accessibility granted by them to foreign travelers.

The rankings are mentioned below:

Conclusion

The visa refusal rates are on a decline for many of the developing as well as the developed countries who are trying to create a more open world for global tourism. However, the visa requirements are still an expensive and time-consuming affair. The countries mentioned above have the fewest visa requirements for the tourists and thus literally welcome you with open arms.

Canada with its free healthcare, free primary and secondary education, freedom of religion, high standards of living, and high paying […]

Canada with its free healthcare, free primary and secondary education, freedom of religion, high standards of living, and high paying jobs is a favorite among immigrants. The number of applicants applying for a Canadian visa is on the rise.

However, one needs to be aware that the immigration industry is full of fraudulent scams and illegal consultants who promise acceptance of visa in return of huge amounts of money. It is humiliating to be turned away by the immigration officer at the airport after spending so much time and money on your application.

Read below to watch out for the Canadian Visa Scam.

Not an Authorized Representative

An authorized representative is the official who has been granted the authority from the Canadian government to assist with visas and immigration through paid services. This list includes RCICs, lawyers, notaries, and paralegals (only for Ontario).

The representatives can easily trick you about their authenticity and so to check their authorization you can simply search their RCIC number on the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council’s Registry. (https://iccrc-crcic.ca/)

For lawyers and notaries, you need to check if they are members of the Canadian provincial and territory law society. For paralegals, the agent needs to be registered with the Law Society of Upper Canada. (https://lso.ca/public-resources/finding-a-lawyer-or-paralegal)

Scam Websites

The agents will always have an online presence for the convenience of their clients. But even if their websites seem genuine you need to make sure whether they are authorized or not.

Avoid websites that make fraudulent claims like guarantying you a visa, a faster proceeding of application, or a high paying job. The agents can only make the process easier for you and the Canadian Government alone holds the authority to decide who gets a visa.

Locate the company’s authorized representative’s credentials on the website so that you can check their registration.

Read the company’s privacy policy, terms and conditions, and refund policy to know exactly what you are getting into.

Avoid websites that do not provide you with contact information.

Fake Government Officials

Some people pose as government officials and call the applicant saying that certain aspects of the application are incomplete and that he/she owes the fees. They may threaten the refusal of visa or deportation.

You should know that immigration officers will never contact you over the telephone to collect fees or fines, they will never be aggressive and they will never ask you for personal or financial information over the phone. Be wary of such people and report them to the authorities.

Fake Emails

You may get emails asking you to invest money or they may even direct you to certain websites where you will have to reveal your personal or financial information. Make sure to check the identity of the sender if you find anything suspicious about them.

Relationship Scams

Here the victim will be lured into an online relationship with promises to take the partner to Canada but first he/she has to help them by giving cash. The amounts asked may be small at first and will gradually increase making the victim broke.

Educational Scams

These are the most common and widespread visa scams. Here the victim is tricked into the Canadian Educational Scam where someone approaches you with promises to study, live and work in Canada. They will ask you for your tuition and other fees in advance and lure you into their schemes.

Immigration is the act of entering another country to reside in and emigration is the leaving of one’s place of […]

Immigration is the act of entering another country to reside in and emigration is the leaving of one’s place of residence for another country.

Illegal immigration is the migration of people into a country in ways that violate the immigration laws of that country or where people reside in a country where they no longer have the legal right to remain, for example, students overstaying their visas, or the job seekers trying to remain in a high-wage market. They are popularly called illegal aliens. Undocumented immigrants refer to those people who have either out-stayed their time period in a particular country or those who entered a country with fake documents.

People mostly immigrate to other countries to either start a new life or rebuild. When they are unable to the gather original documents and travel in a legitimate manner, they then choose the option of traveling illegally. This is where the human traffickers come into the picture. Human smuggling is the illegal importation of people into a country via the deliberate evasion of the immigration laws. They might still choose to be smuggled across the borders because sometimes the benefits or the hopes of landing into a safe country might far outweigh the cost or perils of such travel. The people being smuggled might find themselves at the risk of assault and abuse such as rape, beating, kidnappings, prostitution, slavery, and robbery. Individuals being smuggled may be forced into human trafficking situations or their family may be extorted. This can take a severe toll on them physically and psychologically as they walk for several hours in high temperatures on unsafe and insecure routes and travel in overcrowded trucks without food, water, and ventilation for days.

The dangers of illegal immigration, though, can be numerous. The cost of such immigration might actually exceed the cost of a legal immigration. The money, after all, has to be split between the whole network, starting from the drivers who transport the illegal aliens to the series of houses where the illegal aliens are hiding to the handlers tied to the criminal organizations to the bribes to be paid to the patrolling officers.

The perils of illegal immigration are faced not only by the immigrants but also by the citizens of the country where they immigrate to as it adversely increases the threat to the national security.

There are many instances of deaths caused in the process of illegally trying to smuggle into another country’s borders. Many people either die on their way trying to illegally reach their dream destinations or when upon reaching, they are imprisoned and kept in the detention centers where they may even face death. They might cheat death on their harsh journey but are not always guaranteed a safe arrival. To land on their dream destinations, they really face a do or die kind of a situation as they have to undertake a perilous journey on a treacherous path where their health is guaranteed to be depleted. Indians, Mexicans, Columbians, Latinos, none are spared by this nexus of illegal immigration and the web of human smuggling.

Thus, we as humans may be fooled by the prospects of landing in our dream countries but as responsible citizens, we should not allow ourselves to be preyed upon by the devilish human traffickers.
