A visa refusal is the rejection of the application for a non-immigrant visa by the immigration authorities. The immigration authorities come under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia and are responsible for the residence and work permits.

Slovenia is also a signatory to the Schengen Agreement and has a common visa policy. The visa would cost you around 60 euros and you can apply 90 days before your scheduled travel the Consulate advises to apply at least two weeks prior to the scheduled travel to avoid any delays. The visa refusal rate was for the country for the New Delhi Consulate was 8.20% for a total of 3,251 applications received by it in 2017.

The reasons for visa refusal for this country are the same as that for the Schengen visa application and the reasons will be outlined in the official visa refusal letter.

The most common factors are that the purpose of the visit and the intention to return to the home country have not been mentioned clearly, the travel documents and the travel insurance are not adequately provided, the funds to cover the expenses of the stay are not sufficient, the applicant has had previous issues with a Schengen visa, the applicant has a criminal record history that has not been disclosed willfully.

The solutions to visa refusal are quite straightforward and the applicant has two viable options, that is, he/she can either appeal against the decision or reapply.

The appeal needs to be made to the Embassy/Consulate General of the Republic of Slovenia within one month of the receipt of the refusal letter and in the format specified by the Embassy in the refusal letter. The appeal should be made only if the applicant has valid grounds for appealing the decision and can provide further evidence to support his decision.

If the applicant does not want to appeal, then he/she will have to file for a fresh application after meeting the reasons for refusal.

The visa application should always be filled with adequate caution as the fee paid for the application is non-refundable whether the visa is accepted or rejected. While appealing the decision, the applicant will have to leave the country till the time the result is out and if he wishes to stay then he will have to contact the Embassy accordingly. Not all is lost if your visa application is denied and there is still hope.
